Home, Recent and Pinned

Shortcuts at the top of the site map: Home opens the default dashboard, Recent lists what you opened, and Pinned keeps your favourites.

What it is

Three entries at the top of the site map. Home opens the default dashboard. Recent expands to the records and views you opened lately. Pinned expands to the ones you chose to keep. To pin something, select the push-pin icon next to it in Recent. To unpin, select the remove-pin icon next to it in Pinned.

When to use it

Use them for personal shortcuts: the ten accounts you keep returning to, or a view you check every morning. They suit people who work across many records. They don't replace proper navigation: if every user needs the same page, add it to the Site map as a subarea instead.

Licensing and configuration

No extra licence. In the app designer, open Navigation settings and use Show Home, Show Recent and Show Pinned. All three are on by default. Each user's recent and pinned lists are personal.

Microsoft documents limits: Recent shows the last 10 rows across apps in the organisation, and Pinned shows up to 25 rows, with no more than 15 from a single table.

Pitfalls

  • Recent is shared across apps for the same user, so rows from another app can appear there.
  • If someone sets a different dashboard as default, Home and every dashboard link in the site map open that default instead of the one named.
  • Pinned rows beyond the limits are not shown, so a heavy pinner will think items have vanished.

Try it in the demo

  1. Open a couple of records from a grid.
  2. Expand Recent and select the push-pin next to a record.
  3. Expand Pinned to find it, then select Home to open the default dashboard.
