Interactive dashboard
A dashboard of clickable charts, record streams and tiles, where selecting a chart part filters everything on the page.
What it is
An interactive experience dashboard puts the work in one place. A row of visual filters sits at the top (charts such as help requests by priority), with streams of live records or tiles below. Selecting a part of a chart, for example High, filters every stream and tile. A Timeframe filter narrows the dates, and a global filter works at column level. People can open and act on a record from the stream.
When to use it
Use it for people who triage and work through a queue, such as service teams. Use the Classic dashboard to show a fixed set of charts and lists from many tables, and the Chart pane when you only need a chart next to one view.
Licensing and configuration
No extra licence beyond the one for the app. A maker creates the dashboard in the app designer or in the solution, picks the layout (multi-stream or single-stream), and adds visual filters, streams and tiles. In the classic table editor, a column appears in the global filter only when Appears in global filter in interactive experience is set, and a column sorts a stream only when Sortable in interactive experience dashboard is set. Roles must be enabled for the dashboard.
Pitfalls
- Streams based on queues are not solution aware. Create the queues in the target environment first, then fix the streams after import.
- A visual filter on a column that is not enabled for the global filter is awkward to combine. Enable both.
- The chart and the stream must be based on the same filter table to filter each other.
- Too many streams make the page slow and hard to read.
Try it in the demo
- Open the Help requests dashboard at the deep link.
- Select a bar in one chart. The other charts and the streams narrow to match.
- Change the Timeframe, then select Clear all filters.
