What it is

Edit filters opens a side pane with a query builder. Each row is a condition made of a column, an operator and a value. The operators depend on the column type, so a date offers "on or after" and a choice offers "equals" or "does not equal". You can add groups and switch each group between And and Or, and you can filter on columns of related tables. Apply the filter and the grid updates.

When to use it

Use it when one header filter isn't enough: for example, accelerators that are Active and either in a given category or created this month. For one column, the Column header menu is quicker. For a filter you need every day, save it as a personal view with the View selector.

Licensing and configuration

No extra licence. Edit filters is a standard button on the grid page. An administrator can turn on the modern advanced find experience in the Power Platform admin center (Settings, Features), which changes how views are listed. The conditions you build apply on top of the view's own filter.

Pitfalls

  • Mixing And and Or without groups gives results people don't expect. Use a group for each Or.
  • Filters on related tables are slower than filters on the table itself.
  • The filter belongs to your session until you save it as a view; it doesn't change the system view.

Try it in the demo

  1. Select Edit filters above the grid.
  2. Add a condition on a choice column and a second on a date.
  3. Add a group, switch it to Or, and apply the filter.
