Read-only grid
The default list of rows for a table: sort, resize and select rows, run bulk commands from the command bar and page through the results.
What it is
The grid page lists the rows of a view in a table of columns. You can sort by a column, resize columns, select rows with the checkboxes (Shift-click selects a range), and run commands from the command bar on the selection. A row counter shows the total, and paging moves through large result sets. Selecting a row's name opens its form. In the Power Apps grid control the same grid can also be made editable.
When to use it
Use the read-only grid as the starting point for finding and opening rows, and for bulk actions such as Delete or Assign. If people update the same few columns on many rows, an Editable grid saves them opening each form. If the data is better seen by status or date, try a Kanban view or Calendar view.
Licensing and configuration
No extra licence. The grid is the Power Apps grid control by default. In the form or view designer you set properties on it: Enable editing (default No), Enable filtering (Yes), Enable sorting (Yes), Enable grouping (No), Enable aggregation (No), Allow column reordering (No), Enable multiselect (Yes) and Allow range selection (Yes). Microsoft deprecated the older Editable Grid and Power Apps Read-Only Grid controls in March 2026 in favour of the Power Apps grid control.
Pitfalls
- A view with many lookup columns gets slow, because each lookup adds a join to the query.
- Sorting and filtering options in the column menu disappear if the maker turned them off in the control properties.
- Bulk commands act on the selected rows only, not on every row in the view, so check the selection count before you delete.
Try it in the demo
- Drag a column border to resize it, and select a header to sort.
- Tick two rows with their checkboxes and watch the bulk commands appear in the command bar.
- Scroll to the end of the grid: more rows load, and the footer shows the row count.
